For full transparency, I used the 3M Claw product a while ago, so I am doing the review based on memory. With that said I used several of the 3M claws to remember the product well. Okay, so what is the product, and why is it important. The 3M Claw states it will replace wall anchors, and I agree. The product was brought to my attention from a sponsored review on YouTube where the YouTuber showed all the things the 3M Claw could hold up. It was impressive so when I found a package of them at Walmart on sale I thought why not and bought them.
Shortly after I had picked them up my wife asked for me to hang a picture collage for her. I do feel the specific version of the 3M Claw we had was a bit overkill as the picture frames were quite light. That said, I did like using the 3M claws more than just a penny nail.
3M Claws Selling Points
The product does leave much easier holes to fill than even a penny nail and provides nearly the same hanging force as a wall anchor. Although I did not test the products on heavier items they felt secure and the small hole size is very impressive. The package even comes with tools to make using the product almost as straightforward as hammering in a penny nail.
3M Claws Minor Inconveniences
The template and tools while a nice addition didn’t work the best and the product is still not as simple as hammering in a nail. However, considering the 3M Claw can support something closer to the weight of a wall anchor without having to bust out a drill does make the product a great compromise of performance and convenience. However, while a drill is not needed a hammer is as the product claims one can push the 3M claws in with their thumbs but after trying and failing to do so I grabbed a hammer.
The last inconvenience is in the versatility of the product. The 3M claws are essentially fancy hooks great only for hanging pictures. Do you need a shelf or curtain rod mounted? Guess you’ll be going back to wall anchors. I know that the product is more of an alternative to the command strips than anything else but with how well they work why can’t they do more. If 3M sold a claw with integrated screws instead of a hook then they could potentially be used for shelves and more.
The 3M Claw Conclusion
Honestly, the product is a great picture-hanging product and is much better than using a penny nail, wall anchor, or 3M command strips. However, it’s so good and yet has so little function. I would love to replace projects that require wall anchors for the 3M Claw as they hold weight well with minimal damage but sadly they lack the versatility of the wall anchors. If you love pictures and hate patching drywall then the slightly pricey 3M product is right for you.

Update Time for the Blog
Every once in a while I like to give an update on the blog. I felt right now is a good time to give one as a lot is going on in my personal life. I won’t delve into the details but my personal life is taking up much more time lately which shortens the time I have for the blog posts.
Moving forward I may make some small adjustments to the blog in an attempt to keep posts coming out every week as I have been struggling to do so lately. The first change I am considering would be either shorter, easier blogs like this one.
A counter option to the previous would be increasing the blog timeframe to two weeks which would allow me to keep my blogs similar to my past ones like the paint stripper blog I did extensive product testing and comparisons. Lastly, I could broaden the content on the blog as doing a product or testing a product and then writing a blog can become a lot. I have talked about doing car content which is what I might go into or something unrelated but that interests me like tech reviews.
The comments are always open for suggestions. If there is something one would like me to test or content to cover I would be more than happy to take it into consideration. Hope you enjoyed the review!
